A friend of mine is getting interested in Seinfeld, I gave him a list of must-see episodes, with input from Krishna. These are in no specific order. These are episodes that popped right into our heads when we thought of Seinfeld.
1) The pen (episode 20)
This is the only episode George isn’t present and one of two Kramer isn’t present. This is primarily driven by Seinfeld’s parents. Jerry likes his dad’s friend’s pen and that leads to lots of fun.
2) The chinese restaurant (episode 17)
This is the 2nd show which doesn’t have Kramer in it. The gang waits to be seated in a Chinese restaurant. This is the show (along with The pen) that defined the show.
3) The parking garage (episode 23)
The 4 forget where they parked in a mall parking garage and Elaine has a fish in a plastic bag that is dying.
4) The puffy shirt (episode 66)
If there is one thing visual that defines Seinfeld, it is the ‘puffy shirt’.
5) The comeback (episode 147)
If there is one line that defines George Costanza, it is ‘The jerk store called …’. George comes up with the perfect comeback line way after he needs it.
6) The contest (episode 51)
Voted as the best episode in many top 10 lists. George is caught by his mother doing something a son should never be caught doing which leads to a contest between the 4. It is ridiculously hilarious and they never mention by word what the contest is about, but everyone knows what it is about from the first minute. It is a miracle NBC ran this way back in 95!
7) The abstinence (episode 143)
George is always the loser as compared to Elaine the smart ass. For once, George becomes super intelligent and Elaine becomes super dumb – hilarious episode.
8 ) The chicken roaster (episode 142)
Seinfeld is a lousy actor (he is not a trained one), he can barely stop laughing or grinning in most scenes, however, this is one episode where he rocks. Seinfeld and Kramer switch apartments and of course, both switch personalities too. Seinfeld acts like Kramer and Kramer acts like Seinfeld.
9) The frogger (episode 174)
George has this video game where he is the highest scorer and the shop is shutting down. George has to ship the video game console to his home before the battery runs out.
10) The soup nazi (episode 116)
If there is one line that defines Seinfeld, it is ‘No soup for you’.
11) The marine biologist (episode 78)
For once, George is brave. Kramer finds out he can golf in the beach.
12) The betrayal (episode 164)
Way before Memento did it, Seinfeld did it, they ran this episode in backwards of timeline, the story runs backwards, in India. George spends the entire visit without going to the bathroom since his afraid of Indian toilets.
13) The boyfriend (episodes 34 and 35)
Seinfeld befriends Keith Hernandez (NY mets) and realizes Kramer and Newmann have a long standing fight with him, which leads to Seinfeld having to solve their fight Kevin Costner of JFK style.
14) The outing (episode 57)
A news reporter mis-reports that George and Jerry are gay, the story is picked up by AP. Highly hilarious.
15) The strike (episode 166)
Frank Costanza (Jerry Stiller, father of Ben Stiller) explains his own invented religion called the Festivus. This one kick started its own religion and followers. Easily the best Costanza episode.
16) The limo (episode 36)
The gang steals a limo from the airport. The limo was supposed to carry nazis
.
17) The rye (episode 121)
This is by far the best episode in terms of you laughing out loud. George has to get a marble rye 3 stories up without Susan knowing it. Kramer feeds too much beans to his horse which has gas trouble. Jerry becomes a street thief.
18) The muffin top (episode 155)
Kramer’s tour, the cleaner, Elaine’s suggestion to her boss for a muffin top store (Elaine would have caused the shutdown of her previous press and caused her boss to go jobless)
19) The opposite (episode 86)
‘If everything you do is wrong, then do the opposite’ – Jerry advises George, George follows it and has instant success. As George improves his life, Elaine’s goes down the drain.
20) The visa (episode 55)
Jerry causes Babu Bhatt’s visa to be revoked. “Very bad man” says Babu. This one comes back to hurt Jerry pretty badly in the finale. Babu Bhatt is one of those characters you will never forget in your life.
21) The hamptons (episode 55)
The 4 visit the ugly baby. George’s girl friend goes topless. Shrinkage
22) The bubble boy (episode 47)
Enough said.

Kramer discovers the admirals club at the airport and sees how far he can bet.
24) The finale (episodes 179 and 180)
I actually liked the finale
25) The fusilli jerry (episode 107)
Assman – enough said.
26) The pilot (episodes 63 and 64)
The actual pilot that airs on tv before getting canned.
27) The sponge (episode 119)
Elaine tries to find people that are sponge worthy

“My name rhymes with a female body part”
29) The keys (episode 40)
The privilege to own keys, which eventually drives Kramer away from New York to Hollywood.

George’s obsession with Marissa Tomei. Kramer dealing with the cable guy.

.
32) The red dot (episode 29)
George gifts a sweater with the red dot to his office cleaner that gets him eventually fired. And yes, ‘off the wagon’.
33) The trip (episodes 41 and 42)
Kramer goes to Hollywood – is mistaken for a serial killer. George hates tuck ins in the hotel.
34) The pitch (episode 43)
The pitch to NBC. George decides to become a sitcom writer.

38) The conversion (episode 75)
George converts to Latvian orthodoxy which in a way causes Kramer to do something very wrong.
39) The library (episode 22)
Jerry’s librarian comes back to collect the book Jerry forgot to return. George gets a wedgie.
40) The pony remark (episode 7)
Jerry mocks at immigrants who have ponies which triggers his great aunt to pass away. Kramer wants to do levels in his apartment.
